Our Environmental & Infrastructure product line provides waterproofing, water purification, remediation and other fluid management technologies for critical projects for Remediation, Water Purification, and Infrastructure.

Position: Shift Lead

Location: USA | York, Pennsylvania


This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Responsibilities

Position Details:

  • Supervision of all employees on shift assigned, including safety & employee relations issues
  • Develops and maintains a high degree of morale within assigned areas, and promotes good communication
  • Assures that adequate training for new personnel are provided and are being used
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations for assigned areas
  • Participates in employee development and performance management activities
  • Checks all parts of the plant to ensure: adequate security, check on employee/production status, assist employees with immediate needs and/or issues, be aware of current activities throughout the plant.
  • Ensures safe operation of all equipment including checks of equipment breakdowns and arranging for repair and/or re-assigning operators to other duties
  • Unloads raw materials from railcars
  • Plans and stages all required supplies and raw materials on time as to not slow production
  • Ensures highest level of product quality
  • Performs accident / incident investigations
  • Ensures production rates and labor utilizations are maintained within budget guidelines
  • Ensures product meets established quality standards and are shipped on time with the proper documentation
  • Maintains a record of significant events which occur during the shift
  • Provides training to employees to ensure they are up to date on proper/safe work methods
  • Covers other supervisors during absence or when they are assigned to other tasks
  • Actively leads and participates in the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Fills in and performs Operator duties as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment and mechanical knowledge are required.
  • Prior computer experience required, must have ability to learn new programs.
  • Must read, write, listen, speak and understand English. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • CDL is also a plus.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and pay excellent attention to detail.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to direct/lead others, effectively handle conflict situations, display a cooperative demeanor and concern for others, be able to maintain composure, have integrity, persistence and initiative, as well as be dependable and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Must be flexible and be able to handle a wide range of assignments and tasks that will change from day to day and over time.
  • Must have ability to work independently and to make appropriate decisions in a timely manner as well as handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Must have mechanical skills and be able to assess course of action to be taken in the event of equipment breakdown.
  • Must develop effective working relationship with all individuals internal & external to MTI.   
  • The incumbent must have the ability to exert physical strength continuously throughout the work shift, coordinate movements, use repetitive motions, lift materials weighing up to and including 50 pounds, sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, twist, lift, climb, push and pull throughout a work shift, have the ability to operate mobile equipment, select and use appropriate equipment/tools to accomplish job duties, follow all instructions and other oral/written information, visually inspect equipment/work area/product, complete paperwork/labeling and other documentation accurately, use judgment to identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and solve equipment/work area/product issues, communicate effectively with others, record information from the work shift in writing and on a personal computer, be aware of oneself in relation to surrounding equipment, work independently and as a team with others, use, monitor and adjust equipment and related processes, keep pace with equipment/machinery, and react quickly to equipment/product issues.
  • Must read, understand and follow all company, job specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training. The ability to effectively instruct/transfer job information/knowledge to others as needed is required.
  • Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.
