Position: Well Test Operator

Location: USA | New Iberia, Louisiana


This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties 

  • To assist in all aspects of field operations to a high standard in accordance with CETCO’s and the customer’s requirements.
  • To work with safety as a top priority in order to minimize accidents and incidents.
  • Generate field Job Safety Analysis reports.
  • Assist with maintenance on all equipment.
  • To continually improve personal knowledge and experience.
  • To maintain a high standard of housekeeping, good discipline and respect for peers and superiors.
  • To utilize stop work authority when an unsafe or unclear work situation is encountered.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Common knowledge of electronic and computer skills.
  • Working with high pressure and hazardous chemicals.
  • Able to manage multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Willingness to learn and share assignments.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively deal with deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ensures completion of at least one (1) Personnel Evaluation by a higher-ranking employee per month.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.                                  

OE/Lean

  • Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Suggestions, Daily Management Control, Standard Work, and Problem Solving.
  • Attend all OE training as it is deployed by the OE team.
  • Suggestions – meet requirement per year.Gemba walk done daily.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED required, college preferred. Must have ability to speak and read English.                             

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Professional demeanour and willingness to learn.
  • Professional peer cooperation.
  • Attention to detail. (E.g. field notes, observations, etc.).

Being under little or no supervision, the employee is expected to be self-directed and take initiative when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties and keep busy without prompting from the supervisor or coordinator.  Additionally, the employee is expected to be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments, perform multiple tasks at once, have a high level of integrity, dependability, and self-control to maintain composure, learn and memorize procedures, prioritize work and be persistent as needed, manage time effectively and efficiently, meet established deadlines, display a cooperative attitude, read, understand and follow all company, job specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, client, and other employees of the organization.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply logical and spatial understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several defined variables in standardized situations. Ability to understand and coordinate sequential task activities.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Establish Core Competencies in Service Line-specific Equipment (e.g., identification, basic functions) & in its basic operation
  • Assist in Rig Up and Rig Down of the Equipment.
  • Learn basic maintenance of the equipment.
  • Learn how to take basic readings & measurements and how to record them.
  • Learn basic job flow process and typical SOPs.
  • Possess/obtain any necessary service-specific licenses which are required (e.g., CDL).
  • Training and Ability to read and to understand a PFD and basic elements of a P&ID with supervision.
  • Training and Operating filter systems, Oil/H2O separations tanks, produced water treatment systems, and oilfield chemistry with supervision.

Team Skills:

  • Establish Core Competencies in Safety and in Operational Excellence (PEC & MTI Onboarding).
  • Be assigned a mentor for each job.
  • Learn the chain-of-command both within the Yard and on job locations.
  • Know who the coordinators (e.g., HR, Safety, OE, etc.) are within their respective locations/organizations.
  • Be able to understand SWA and when to utilize it.
  • Exhibit a willingness to function as a Team Member and to actively participate in Yard Initiatives and Activities.
  • Exhibit a desire to learn from other Team Members and to learn more about the equipment, job design, etc.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and to physically perform all aspects of the job in close proximity to others.
  • Exhibits ability to take direction from others.

Customer/Business Skills:  

  • Directs Customer inquiries to Team leader.
  • Exhibits a professional demeanor and appearance before, during, and after a job.
  • Displays a positive attitude at all times.
  • Works safely, maintains a high standard of housekeeping (5S), and has good discipline.
  • Exhibits respect for Team Members, Customers, and the public at all times while on duty.

Work Hours: Work hours vary depending on the scope of the project.  Must have ability to work a 24 hour call meaning subject to call out 24 hours a day working holidays, weekends, as necessary and away from home for the duration of the project. 

 

Licensing: Incumbent must meet applicable Federal and/or State regulations/requirements regarding qualifications of drivers FMCSA or Pipeline work – PHMSA.

 

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly conducting work in a shop and offshore environment. On a regular basis, there may be exposure to plant areas, onshore industrial job sites, and offshore industrial job sites which include exposure to all outside weather conditions as well as loud noise from equipment and dust from production processes. 

 

Travel:  To and from job sites or docks in a vehicle where transported to the rig site by boat or helicopter.

 

Safety Equipment:  Safety equipment required while performing the duties of this job include but not limited to an ANSI approved hardhat and safety glasses, safety shoes/boots with steel toe protection. Also may be required to wear goggles, cotton or high impact gloves, work vest, respirator, chemical/Neoprene Gloves, Chemical Apron, Hearing Protection, and Fall Protection device.

 

Safety Training:  A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual which consists of a total of 24 hours of PEC Core training.  Water Survival if working on water; certified rigging API RP2D; first aid CPR; Fall Protection competent user if working at heights and defensive driving. Additionally attends monthly safety meeting; submit a required number of observations per month; do JSEA prior to each task.

 

Applicant is subject to mathematics and physics test during the interview process, prior to offer of employment.
