MTI Business Segment: Performance Materials

Position: Truck Mechanic

Location: North America | USA | Colony, WY

 

The Performance Materials segment is a leading supplier of bentonite and bentonite-related products, as well as chromite and leonardite, to industrial and consumer markets globally. Products offered by the Performance Materials segment include specially formulated green sand bond solutions for metalcasting, additives for powdered laundry detergent formulation, and pet litter. This segment operates more than 25 mining or production facilities worldwide. The Performance Materials segment also provides products for non-residential construction, environmental and infrastructure projects worldwide. It serves customers engaged in a broad range of construction projects, including site remediation, concrete waterproofing for underground structures, liquid containment on projects ranging from landfills to flood control, and drilling applications including foundation, slurry wall, tunneling, water well and horizontal drilling.

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Truck Mechanic at our Colony, WY location. The Truck Mechanic position requires the individual be safety minded. Truck Mechanic performs any and all tasks associated with repairing semi tractors, belly dump trailers and/or water trailers. Repairs to the trucks will be conducted in or at truck shop facility, or out in the field using provided service truck.

Responsibilities

Position Details:

  • Diagnose, repair, maintain trucks and ensure any out of compliance issues are fixed in a timely manner
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Proper communication with staff about repairs made or needed
  • Document repairs made and parts used in repair process

*This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have own tools
  • Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, equipment used in truck repairs
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, air, brake, suspension systems of truck
  • Current CDL a plus, but not required
  • Clean MVR
  • Ability to:
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Bend, stretch, twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Lift occasionally up to 75 lbs
  • Fill out all necessary daily paperwork and/or safety related documents
  • Recognize and respond to immediate safety concerns
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoors in any and all weather conditions.

Work Hours:

  • 10-12 hour work days, 5 days a week, overtime, occasional Saturday if weather interrupts regular week

Safety Training:

  • MSHA
