Position: Plant Manager

Location: USA | Lafayette, Louisiana

 

Job Summary:
Direct Management of an FDA cGMP Polymer, Bulk Manufacturing, and Unit Packaging facility. This will include direct oversight of production, maintenance, warehouse, quality assurance, operational excellence processes, quality control and safety processes. Will also maintain the extended planning for capital projects, maintain and keep up with weekly/monthly reporting, and working closely with EHS and Quality.

Responsibilities

*This is considered a safety sensitive position, therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required. 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • The day-to-day operations of the facility; including safety, production, quality, and profitability.
  • Establish and achieve weekly / monthly goals as measured by KPI’s.
  • Establishing and implementing organizational policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Motivation, training, development, and supervision of all production associates.
  • Workplace organization, and housekeeping.
  • Continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing/Root cause analysis. 
  • Effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Initiate and Implement Capital Projects
  • Support company growth initiatives and targets
  • Maintain strict compliance with standard work and standard operating procedures.

 

OE/Lean

  • Manages, supports, and achieves Operational Excellence/lean goals and initiatives, including but not limited to 5S, inventory reduction, process flow mapping, value stream mapping, standard work, Kaizens, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.
  • Leads team in a continuous improvement work environment.
  • Supports quality teams and management with OE initiatives and actively suggests opportunities for improvements.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or related field preferred
  • Advanced degree is helpful.
  • 10+ years of Chemical or Pharma Plant Manager Experience

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety practices.
  • Understanding of complex chemical processes, pharma manufacturing guidelines, high technical/analytical knowledge, and strong mechanical skills
  • Ability to manage a high paced workplace, apply a plan, organize responsibilities, prioritize requirements while managing resources.
  • Provide high level troubleshooting and corrective action implementation.
  • Highly responsive and provide quick support for 24-hour operations.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing/conflicting priorities.
  • Champion of continuous improvement in all areas of the plant.
  • Ability to interface with customers, host plant visits and facilitate plant presentations.
  • Supports commercial team discussions, vet new opportunities objectively and innovatively, analyze and communicate business benefit/risk probability, equipment capability, storage, cost, and staffing needs.
  • Participate in NPPD Stage gate to commercialization process.
  • Understand and manage to the annual operating plan based on the business strategy and use it as the foundation for hoshin planning and meeting objectives.
  • Manages plant expense budgets with appropriate accounting information and support.
  • Develops short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies.
  • Understand Order to Cash Process, focused on OOR and OTIF
  • Acts as a gatekeeper, accepting and executing projects, effective Project management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to lead people effectively, building and sustaining relationships at all levels required, and promoting a high-performance organization.
  • Strong use of rewards and recognition programs.
  • Superior communication skills required.
  • Ability to speak and read English

 

Travel     

  • Primarily local during the business day
  • Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Primarily responsible for Day-to-Day operations of our Lafayette Site.
  • Work Hours: 40 plus hrs week, available for afterhours support by phone for emergencies.
