Position: Intern – Accounts Payable

Location: Bethlehem, PA or Hoffman Estates, IL

 

MTI is seeking an Intern to perform general accounting duties in the Global Business Services department.

 

The MTI Internship Program is designed to provide College and University enrolled or recently graduated students with meaningful experience within the Accounting function. The students are given an opportunity to gain a valuable corporate or operations learning experience through a finite project determined by each department. Projects vary for each intern assignment depending on the needs of the department, and each will provide the intern with both a meaningful and relevant work experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Shadowing members of the accounting department as they perform their duties.
  • Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete accounting records.
  • Preparing accounting reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents.
  • Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • Learning how to work as part of a team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company or clients.
  • Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.

 

OE/Lean

  • Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving

Education:          Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree program preferably in Accounting

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Must be able to read, write, listen, speak, and understand English
  • Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Have the ability to work independently, be dependable, and maintain confidential information, integrity and composure at all times
  • Communicate effectively with all individuals internal and external to the organization
  • Be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments
  • Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Must be able to multitask, compose correspondence and other documentation in a professional manner, express ideas constructively, use judgment in decision making and use creativity, persistence, persuasion and negotiation when necessary to accomplish necessary duties
  • Must actively listen to others, coach/instruct others, manage time effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to identify/judge the urgency of a situation
  • Display a cooperative attitude, read, understand and follow all company, job specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training

 

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to regularly conduct work in a controlled office environment, moving around the office as needed, sitting at a desk, using office equipment, including but not limited to a personal computer, fax machine, copier and telephone.

 

Constant contact with individuals internal and external to the organization occurs via various methods of communication, typically including face-to-face discussions, electronic mail, phone calls, written letters and/or faxes.

 

Work Hours:  As agreed upon, based on intern availability and business needs.

 

Safety Training:  A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or through the online training system.  Additionally, an employee must be provided further training if a job duty/task has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee’s position.  Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by government regulations.
