Position: SMS Safety Coordinator
Location: USA | Memphis, Tennessee Area
The Safety & Environmental Manager, under limited supervision, is responsible for providing support to the Environmental/Safety Manager in all areas of Host Mills and worker safety. This position will serve as backup to Environmental/Safety Director during his/her absence. Works safely and actively promotes the safety culture and philosophy of MTI in all work activities.

Actively participate in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Incumbent should possess a bachelor’s degree with five years related experience. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, to motivate others and to promote a positive work atmosphere. The incumbent must be a self-starter who can work effectively with a minimum of supervision. Must have the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees within the company. Incumbent must have demonstrated a willingness to challenge conventional ideas, be flexible, innovative and be able to function effectively in a team format. A working knowledge of basic computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

Work Hours: Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays and weekends, as necessary. Call-ins may occur as needed.
Working Conditions: On a daily basis, there will be exposure to host mill areas, which include exposure to outside weather conditions as well as loud noise from equipment and dust from production processes. A considerable amount of walking and climbing is required to access the top portions of these facilities.
Safety Equipment: Safety equipment required while performing the duties of this job includes a personal lockout/tagout lock, ANSI approved hard hat and safety glasses, safety shoes/boots with metatarsal steel toe protection, protective gloves, high visibility clothing, and hearing and respiratory protection.
