Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist 

Location: Easton, PA

 

Background:

MINTEQ’s Pyrogenics Group provides engineered carbon based products for key industries requiring innovative material solutions.

 

Scope:

The Shipping/Receiving Specialist under general supervision, is responsible for carrying out functions related to receiving, issuing, storing, inventorying, and security of supplies, materials, and equipment in the production facility. This function is also responsible for packaging and shipping of all products, intermediates, and samples produced from our production process. This will include completing and finalizing all commercial orders in Oracle system and MRP system. Activities include assisting with warehouse operations and performing entry level warehouse and dock-related tasks, loading and unloading trucks, moving, handling and tracking packages and other material requirements.

 

 

In addition, the incumbent will be trained to assist in general plant production activities including maintaining Kanban inventory system, documentation, replacement and reorder of MRO supplies, and OE activities operational and/or QA department support.

 

Responsibilities

*This is considered a safety sensitive position, therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Package and prepare all products for shipment to customers, suppliers, or industry partners.
  • Assure all paperwork (manifests, BOL’s, labels, etc.) is properly completed and placed with packages, and all piece counts are consistent.
  • Works with standard software packages to input raw materials, create inventory, and ship products.
  • Creates and maintains records of shipping, receiving, and inventory.
  • Assign and move materials to appropriate storage areas.
  • Operate fork truck to unload and move pallets of material.  
  • Direct truck drivers where to deliver inside the plant and coordinate the unloading of trucks.
  • Support operations and quality staff as needed to ensure appropriate production and quality actions are completed per standard work instructions.
  • Independently works on multiple project tasks and assignments for timely completion.
  • Follows all compliance with site Safety and Regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participates (after training) in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), other OE functions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED, or Associate degree or equivalent. 
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a sense of urgency, and a thirst for learning having skills necessary in order to work independently.  Candidates must be able to multi-task, exercise creativity, possess exceptional organizational skills, and work effectively in a team-based environment.  Individual must have the ability to interface with internal and external customers in a professional and courtesy manner and understand general operations in a batch, continuous flow environment.  
  • The incumbent should have 2 years (minimum) in plant shipping and receiving environment.  If not already experienced, must become HAZMAT/IATA shipping trained.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

 

Supervises: No supervision of others

 

Contacts:

  • Internal – frequent contacts with production personnel, operators, technicians, research staff, materials management, engineering, sales and business management.
  • External – frequent transportation and delivery contact.

 

Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Day shift.  However, the employee must have ability to work the shift/number hours in which duties are to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays and weekends, as necessary.

 

Travel: Minimal

 

Additional Information:

 

Computer competency on a Windows-based system using MS Office Suite, demonstrated written communication skills. Excellent attention to details.  Working knowledge of Operational Continuous Improvement in a manufacturing environment.  This plant is on a journey to a Lean Manufacturing environment.  Knowledge of Lean fundamentals a definite plus.   Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs exert physical strength, coordinate movements, use repetitive motions, have the ability to operate mobile equipment, regularly stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, crouch, kneel, lift, twist, push and pull throughout a work shift. Must be able to lift 50-60 pound containers. 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must use appropriate equipment/tools to accomplish job duties, read, write, listen, speak and understand English, follow all instructions and other oral/written information, visually inspect equipment/work area, complete paperwork and other documentation accurately, identify, analyze, troubleshoot and solve issues using judgement, react quickly as needed, be organized and detail oriented, be able to identify/judge the urgency of a situation, use judgement in decision making, communicate effectively with others, be aware of oneself in relation to surrounding equipment, work independently and as a team with others.
