Job Title: Production Supervisor

Location: Dyersburg, TN | U.S.

Responsibilities

*This is considered a safety sensitive position, therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively promote and enforce safe work, good housekeeping and hygiene practices within the context of the MTI Safety program.
  • Leads daily Production Meeting, attends Leadership Meeting and ensures that the plant is following schedules and implements corrective action to prevent schedule deviation to meet shipping due dates.
  • Coordinate line packaging. Completes necessary production/labor reports daily.
  • Controls shift departmental expenses.
  • Ensures proper training and job instruction of employees with respect to expected standards of work performance, quality, hygiene, and job safety.
  • Ensures fair treatment of employees via established Company policies.
  • Development of new methods, policies, systems and procedures that ensure efficient and effective operation pertaining to all operations of the plant.
  • Supervises and encourages the participation of all plant personnel in attaining Cost Reduction goals. Actively communicates and promotes involvement.
  • Attend to duties and projects as assigned by Manager or his/her delegate.
  • The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the production on the shift.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates production schedules to meet order due dates.
  • Responsible for managing all production resources to ensure that there is efficient production of finished goods.
  • Assigns work to ensure that scheduled requirements are met, all required procedures are followed, and all products are shipped on time.
  • Ensure that all established standards for labor, material utilization and product quality are met. 
  • Supervise & encourage the participation of the shift manufacturing personnel and maintenance in attaining Cost Reduction goals. Actively communicate and promote involvement.
  • Communication & coordination with all departments with regards to all manufacturing issues, especially with Scheduling & Shipping dealing with reporting current & future Customer schedules, available capacity and projected completion dates for orders. Communicates all production issues to Plant Manager.
  • Recommends hiring promotion, demotion, termination & salary action.
  • Conducts Performance Evaluation of employees reporting into this function. Applies corrective discipline as required. Ensures that all written documentation complies with company policies & procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Operational Excellence/Lean/Continuous Improvement

  • Acts as resource and champion for department continuous improvement activities.
  • Drives OE for the production lines, deep dives into downtime pareto charts, utilizes Vorne OEE system for identifying and driving improvement opportunities.
  • Leads the progression of suggestions on the Employee Suggestion Board.
  • Develops and implements Leader Standard Work. 
  • Leads the shop floor culture for 5S in the plant.
  • Performs audits of various lean components to company standards. Creates action plans to close identified gaps, and leads the execution of the action items.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; HS Diploma required.
  • 3+ years Production experience in a supervisor or lead role in a Manufacturing environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and develop quickly through personal initiative.
  • Organized, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Full understanding of MS Office (heavily focused on Outlook, Word, and Excel).
