Position: Mobile Equipment Shop Technician

Location: USA | Lucerne Valley, California

Compensation: $31.93/hr - $44.29/hr

 

Job Summary

You will have an opportunity to work with an experienced group of professionals that will not only provide you with challenging work but will mentor and encourage you to learn and grow.  The position of Mobile Equipment Shop Technician is a critical role in maintaining our mobile mining assets through safe execution of planned maintenance activities, troubleshooting downed equipment, and ensuring fleet reliability is maintained.

 

This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for repairing mobile equipment to a safe and usable condition.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of mobile mining equipment
  • Plans, organizes, and performs planned maintenance and repairs to mobile mining equipment
  • Documentation of maintenance activities performed
  • Position includes a progression from Technician 1 to Technician 4 based on skill development.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on mobile equipment.
  • Perform welding, electrical troubleshooting, and repairs. .
  • Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and emergency part deliveries.
  • Act as fill-in team leader when management is unavailable.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify all types of mobile equipment (e.g., golf carts to heavy mining loaders).
  • Handle computer tasks: time cards, parts issuance, vendor emails.
  • Train and lead junior technicians.
  • Use service and parts manuals for repairs.
  • Perform hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Refuel trucks and loaders.
  • Manage and store special order parts or stage parts for larger projects.
  • Perform other assigned duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in English and advanced mechanical/electrical skills.
  • Preferred: computer literacy and formal diesel mechanic or automotive mechanic training.
  • Physical capabilities: lifting (up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs), operating equipment, manual dexterity, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong troubleshooting, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Capable of instructing others and multitasking.
  • Must be adaptable, dependable, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Required to follow safety and company procedures and complete necessary training.
  • Troubleshooting diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
  • Electrical systems installation and troubleshooting.
  • Welding, fabrication, flame cutting.
  • Lubrication methods and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Formal trade training preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with industrial mobile equipment (e.g., haul trucks, loaders, dozers, forklifts, dump trucks).

 

Work Conditions

  • Outdoor mining environment; exposure to dust, noise, heights, confined spaces, extreme lighting, and outdoor conditions.
  • Plant process areas contain ladders, walkways, tight places, confined spaces, uneven terrain, and stairs, both inside and outside.
  • Primarily works alone but may work closely with others and equipment.

 

Work Hours:

  • As agreed upon based on availability and business needs; generally, Monday through Friday eight hours per day (40 hours per week).

Safety Training:

A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or through the online training system.  Additionally, an employee must be provided further training if a job duty/tasks has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee's position.

 

Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by government regulations.
