Position: Steel Mill Service Representative
Location: USA | NW Indiana/Illinois/Wisconsin/Iowa
Summary
The Representative should be a self-starting employee who functions at a high level of capacity in several key areas, including having expertise in maintaining and repairing all equipment (including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on the Minscan), acting independently (when appropriate,) plus being available on call and handling certain administrative and record keeping functions. The Representative is the foremost image of Minteq International being the daily contact of the customer.
This position will service several locations in the NW Indiana/Illinois/Wisconsin/Iowa area. While travel is an everyday occurrence of the position, only 20% will be for overnight. A company vehicle will be provided.
Be proficient in all aspects of equipment operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment, including but not limited to the Minscan, standard dry guns, wire feeders, mixer, pumps, motors etc.
Perform pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic and electrical repairs to equipment.
Read schematics and diagrams.
Keep equipment clean and in working order
Apply material (product) and use all relevant equipment as required
Follow all standard operating procedures regarding equipment and applications of product
Assist in the tracking of product inventory
Minimize usage of consumables
Actively participate in new business development.
Operate independently
Supervise self during shift
Communicate with Management regarding performance or policy compliance issues
Assist in administrative/record keeping functions
Record consumable parts usage and monitor inventory of parts
Maintain Minscan record keeping.
Submit all reports and data in a timely manner.
Assist in the training and development of new employees
Demonstrate preventive maintenance and basic trouble shooting skills
Train new hire (if necessary) and actively advocate safety awareness.
Demonstrate proper equipment usage and knowledge of product application.
Lead by example regarding policy compliance, standard operating procedures, etc.
Maintain a strong focus on satisfying the customer
Maintain a professional, high profile with the customer.
Assist in new trials, provide feedback to other managers.
Assist in the testing of new products and provide feedback
OE/Lean
Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Knowledge: Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity and electronics, personal computer. Knowledge of Company products, applications and equipment.
Skills & Abilities: Outstanding technical, mechanical, plus leadership/influence, performance management basics, communication, interpersonal, adaptability, ability to learn quickly and work independently, initiative, integrity, customer and quality focus, analysis and judgment/problem-solving, safety awareness and planning and organizing. Must be able to operate all equipment such as manlift, scissors lift and batch guns.
Physical & Mental: Ability to lift to 50 pounds (or more in certain shops). Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Must be able to gather data, draw conclusions and handle a high level of stress.
General: May require working rotating shifts, emergency call outs, and overtime. Must wear all required safety gear. May be requested to travel.
