Job Title: North America Financial Controller

Location: Bethlehem, PA or Chicago, IL location

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The employee is responsible for monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow), financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal control. The employee manages, controls, and implements the accounting structure/system and consolidates the financial reporting for Pet Care and Specialties in North America, according to company policy.

 

The responsibility includes managing the working capital and assisting in analyzing new business opportunities in the region.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements an efficient North America accounting structure for respective entities.
  • Ensures and continues to develop North America financial reporting, including monthly and quarterly reports and briefings.
  • Manages working capital in North America, setting up clear objectives for each plant to local management and brief the Global Controllers for Pet Care and Specialties and their respective teams.
  • Supervises and leads general accounting and implements, manages, and supervises accounting systems.
  • Assist operating personnel managing the business with a high level of financial analysis and management reports and give financial training and guidance to managers so that they can utilize financial information systems and make sound decisions.
  • Ensures inter-company account reconciliation and ensures financial accounting by entity (according to corporate accounting policies; local statutory requirements; audit principles; SEC and US GAAP requirements; local and US tax reporting needs).
  • Ensures internal control procedures are in place and adjusts appropriately to local conditions as well as monitoring of financial audits.
  • In cooperation with the North America Sales Director, assist in the analysis of other areas of the business, like new business development opportunities and commercial pricing (escalation factors, etc…)
  • Prepares regular North America financial performance overviews.
  • Proposes corrective actions when required to achieve targets.
  • Ensures most cost-effective financial solutions are in place to achieve the North America Pet Care and Specialties strategies.
  • Ensures professional training needs are fulfilled.

Qualifications

Skills/Education: 

  • Fluent in English.
  • Experienced user of Oracle and HFM/Essbase. 
  • Able to independently develop financial models, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience; of which 5 years are in a financial capacity: cost accounting, assistant controller, etc.

Physical Requirements:

 

Ability to travel in US and Canada sometimes frequently and/or for extended periods by air and car. Ability to operate a computer. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders. Ability to tolerate and negotiate movement through plant environments.  Valid driver's license required.
