Job Summary

Under routine supervision, the Quality Assurance Inspector collects and prepares samples for distribution to prospective customers and customers. Also, sampling, testing, labeling and disposition for critical raw materials and return product to ensure established quality standards are maintained.

Incumbent should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a general understanding of chemistry.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Validation Production Samples

• Gather product samples for customer validations. (replace them every two years on a program)
• Prepare manual COAs for these samples.
• Prepare and send the samples as requested.

Incoming Raw Material

• Receive and validate COAs for all raw materials.
• Inspect condition of incoming materials.
• Input information into "Incoming Raw Material Log" - ADD material critical characteristics
• Review critical raw material characteristic trends and advise for any action (either excel charts or in SPC-IV)
• Put on hold any non-conforming raw material.
• Gather the necessary samples indicated by the SOP.
  • Perform internal tests as necessary.
  • Prepare samples for any required outside testing.

Microbial Monitoring

• Gather 3 water samples per week from GCC and PCC UV Systems.
• Perform the necessary bacteria testing.
• Report and follow up on any anormal condition on the UV systems or micro results.
• Gather biannual samples for outside micro testing.
• Gather biannual water samples for outside micro testing.

Laboratory Sample Shipping

• Prepare and send samples/equipment to outside laboratories/suppliers/customers.

Special QA Activities/Sampling

• Ensure material OOS is put on hold.
• Keep track of product on hold until dispositioned.
• Gather samples of customer returned product.
• Help gather evidence in Customer Concerns or Quality Alerts investigations.

Stability Chamber

• Weekly replace the paper chart and monitor compliance of temperature and relative humidity
• Maintain the equipment with enough water.
• Report any problem observed.

Laboratory Material

• Keep track of Chemicals/Standards/Consumables needed in the Laboratory.
• Advice if levels get below restocking points for purchase.
• Keep control and order of retained material.
• Keep control and order of laboratory books.

Process Plant Inspections

• Perform biannual inspection checks to magnets strength and equipment conditions.
• Perform quarterly checks to metal detectors.
• Review and train production operators to do proper magnet sampling and metal detector verification.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required with a general understanding of chemistry. 
• Ability to lift materials weighing up to and including 50 pounds.

On a frequent basis, there may be exposure to plant areas, which include exposure to outside weather conditions as well as loud noise from equipment and dust from production processes.  This includes walking up flights of stairs in the production areas.

The employee is expected to be self-directed, take initiative and be persistent when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties and keep busy without prompting.  Additionally, the employee is expected to be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments, have a high level of integrity, dependability and self control to maintain composure, perform multiple tasks at once, learn and memorize procedures, manage time effectively and efficiently, meet established deadlines, display a cooperative attitude, read, understand and follow all ISO, company, job specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training. 

Safety Equipment:  Safety equipment required while performing the duties of this job includes an ANSI approved hardhat and safety glasses, safety shoes/boots with steel toe protection.

Safety Training:  A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual which consists of a total of 24 hours of training. 

Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by MSHA/OSHA regulations.
