Position: Minscan Technical Service Specialist

Location: USA | Southeast US

Compensation:  $30/hr - $33/hr

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Minscan Technical Service Specialist is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Minscan scanning systems and associated equipment used in steel mills and other industrial environments. This role works closely with customers, service personnel, and operations teams to ensure equipment is operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of Minscan equipment at customer facilities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues impacting system performance.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and calibration of Minscan systems and supporting hardware.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Support technical service personnel during planned outages and emergency service calls.
  • Ensure all equipment operates according to company and customer specifications.
  • Document service activities, repairs, and equipment performance data.
  • Maintain service tools, spare parts inventory, and equipment records.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and SMS personnel as needed.
  • Follow all company and customer safety requirements while working in industrial environments.
  • Travel to customer locations to support installation, maintenance, and repair activities.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in steel mills, refractory operations, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience with sensors, instrumentation, controls, or scanning equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined industrial areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in hot industrial environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, and fall protection equipment as required.

 

General: 50 - 75% travel, including overnight stays, as required to support customer installations and service activities.
